10mm fitting + 11mm ID = fail?? :(

I'm guessing you are going to tell me yes to this but I made a silly mistake...

I ordered 2 koolance quick disconnect fittings... 10mm x 16mm,

not realizing that my tube (used for all my other fittings) is 11mm x 16mm...

I ordered these the same time I accidentally ordered the wrong bitspower fittings (which were also 10mm x 16mm) and these fit the tube, but while the tube was fitted in, with the compression locked on tight, I could still pull it through, which tells me the fittings are too small :(

having checked the koolance website, they don't make fittings in 11mm x 16mm... so I have no idea what to do... I need those dimensions because all my bitspower fittings are 11mm x 16mm, so I can't even buy a 10mm x 16mm tube because the opposite ends will be 11mm x 16mm!

WHAT A PULLAVA!? are there any adapters I can get? o rings? or something like that?!

help appreciated!
 
Not sure I understand what your saying but I would have thought changing your tubing would fix the problem, no?

think i understand!:) i would try wrapping some 1mm thick strip of neoprene around the barb end of your koolance fitting (soak the tubing in hot water and force it on) the compression nut should hold it fine.that famous auction site is good for picking up cheap neoprene sheets.

yeah, tldr: fitting too small for tube by 1mm!

changing tube size wouldn't work because the compression fittings I have are all 11 x 16 mm.

never heard of neoprene before? What's it generally used for?

its a rubber like substance(used in diving suits ect),ive used it loads as gasket or decoupling pumps(with some sponge between two bits) good stuff that im sure would solve your problem,only a couple of quid for a 1mm by 100mm square sheet.just cut enough to cover the barb

Ok let me try this again...

At the location to which you want the disconnects you could use a smaller tubing and use fittings that go from 1 size to another. They have some on the main page store somewhere.

From how im taking it your basically saying your tubing is too big for the fittings, except for the rest of the PC. You could always send the fittings you recently bought back and get some that fit properly?
 
That's the wrong way round... tubing which is too thick for fittings works fine, I'm using 10/8mm fittings with 11/8mm tubing. The tubing isn't likely to come out.

Sending the disconnects back seems the way forward.
 
only koolance do QDC (bitspower do but they don't list the ID/OD and they are new to QDC)

I don't want a valve in my system, qdc is just easier, so if I can adapt with a bit of neoprene then I'll definitely try it :) (it's ordered)

the wall thickness isn't the issue, the inner dimension of the tube is bigger than the inner dimension of the fitting by 1mm, I can pull it off when the thread is screwed in all the way, but I must admit I do have to apply some force, I doubt it will leak as it is (after testing last night) but I would rather be safe as I don't want this to just explode randomly 1 day.

If it was me id probably get a size converter barb and use that to reduce the tubing size just for the QDC section or completely renew the tubing and all fittings.

let me know how you got on with it,it will be tight but sure you can do it and you would never know to look at it,got to be easier than returning everything:(

This. If you can't send the disconnects back, just get smaller tubing and heat it if you struggle to fit it over the fittings.
 
actually, getting 10mm ID tubing should fit a 11mm ID fitting... may be a little stretch but should be ok - I'm just concerned about that 16mm OD being pushed to 17mm as a result
