This morning i went from ati cat 11.4 to 11.5 using driversweep to clean out all old bit . The prosess went fine but after i installed 11.5 and rebooted half my files and folders had dissapeared . all my docs ,photos and videos . and half of my desktop, and firefox had completely gone . i restored back to an earlier point . Now i am very confused

Any ideas ??

Do not use driver sweeper!

No need.

Run the express unistall in add remove programs, reboot, install new drivers, reboot, run windows experience thingy again and your done.

Using third party tools is detremental to your health!

There should be a sticky that says:

DO NOT USE DRIVER SWEEPER!

Indeed, you only need to uninstall, reboot and install the new drivers. No need for cleaners they tend to bugger things up (as you have found)

I will try as you suggest . But i have never had any problems before . ever since driver cleanner was free , all those years ago ...

Oh well you live and learn ;)

I didn't even bother uninstalling, the catalyst installer seems to do a very good job of upgrading these days.

The only time I'd ever consider using a driver cleaner programm was if I was going from ATI to Nvidia and vice versa, and to be honest I'd probably still do a full re-install.

Agreed. Never manually clean out older drivers these days, haven't done that since I left XP.
