I currently have a 1100t and it is cooled by a venomous x black with two black 120mm apaches.

idle is around 42C and when playing shogun2 is around 48C according to the asus ai suite II that came with my motherboard. Thats good right?

the fans are quiet but sometimes can become very noisy especially if im playing at night and everyone is asleep.

The 1100t is at stock 3.3. It came straight out of the factory and so is not retail (no box/stock cooler).

I overclocked it to 3.8 myself and it worked fine. letting the bios overclock, it choose 4.2 and the computer started and quickly turned off and wouldnt start and so i had to use a cmos reset. That was a few months ago. I have attempted to overclock it since but it will not go past 3.3 otherwise the computer wont start.

what is the problem and how could i solve it?
is it just that it is getting to hot and overheating and would be solved via watercooling?

a friend has the same cpu straight out of the factory and same cooler and has kept theirs at 3.8 and hasnt went higher.it works fine.

Set voltage to 1.5v which is safe max for air and keep raising multi and testing. Should hit around 4ghz.

Hmm, the idle seems high and the load seems low. Download HWmonitor and check the CPU or TMP0/1 temps. Ignore the core temps, AMD chips do not report the right temps

alright,
thankyou CJ, spenty and will do d_brennen!

I will see how it goes and will report back tomorrow along with more accurate readings.
