1100t VID

Just got myself one of these CPUs. Still learning about it, but:

- BIOS reports VID of 1.475 - seems high ?
- Coretemp reports VID of 1.325
-CPU-Z shows something like 1.472 idle and then droop to 1.345 or something under full load

I guess it is 1.475 ? Anyone who has a 1090T or 1100T like to confirm ? I'm used to seeing lower Intel values, but maybe this is right !

Temps seem fine if Coretemp is giving me the right numbers - I saw max 50C under Intel Burn test 5 runs. This with the Gelid cooler. I plan to overclock through the multiplier as far as I can go on stock voltage or perhaps a small bump. 3.7 is my target

More than likely 1.325 is the default voltage and 1.475 is the turbo voltage, I think if you disable turbo the bios should report the proper default voltage.

You can quite easily hit 4.1GHz on air with the 1100t. My CPU runs at 1.40 OC'd @ 4.1GHz atm - it's pushable to a bit more but loses stability.

Yes, turned turbo off and now 1.325 is reported. Upped the multiplier to give 3.7, passes IntelBurnTest and now running Prime95 for a few hrs.

Don't worry about VID - its not like the older Intel chips mate ;)

Aim for 4Ghz with a CPU-NB of at least 2400Mhz and you'll be good to go.
DONT however use coretemp to measure temperature - its not accurate at all.

If you have an Asus motherboard - use PC Probe which will give you the correct value otherwise use HWMonitor (but you'll need to suss out which of the readings is the CPU one). Aim should be for 62Degrees absolute maximum. gl hf

PS - Have a good read of this to understand it all ;) http://sites.amd.com/us/Documents/AMD_Dragon_AM3_AM2_Performance_Tuning_Guide.pdf

My 1055T needs 1.416V (set in BIOS as 1.425, 1.416 as reported by CPUZ) for 4GHz however from my observations there is very little gain to be had performance wise between 3.6-3.7 and 4GHz but the power use (and hence cooling) are not worth it IMO. I've been running mine at 1.2v @ 3.5GHz/1660MHz RAM/2500MHz CPUNB at 50c with a 500-600RPM 120MM cooler :)

I do envy you BE owners, sometimes :p

- it is a Gigabyte 990XA-UD3 board, I guess Easytune may give me correct CPU temps - I'll look
- so far I'm just using multiplier to increase the clock. At the moment I'm not clear on FSB or HT method of raising the clocks

- understood about diminishing returns and power use. I intend to go as far as I can on stock volts and then back off a little. As long as I don't increase vcore, power use shouldn't go up too much. As for cooling, hopefully the Gelid Tranquillo is keeping temps under control
