Put this in general as it's about a system as opposed to a cpu or mobo specifically.

Ok, the question: Those of you who are upgrading or considering upgrading to the latest 1155 motherboard and Sandybridge chips, predominantly those who are going for i7 2600k, would you still upgrade if the total overall cost inc cpu, ram, mobo and cooler was more than upgrading to

950 i7,
Asus Sabretooth
6gb ram
Corsair H50

?

well, it would make sense to consider the advantages SB has to offer. If lets say it offers a 10% performance increase and a 10% more overclocking capability than the i7 and is less than 10% more expensive, and I have no use of the 6gb over 4gb (ie i'm a gamer) then I would say yes.
Considering tho that 2x4gb dimms are coming down in price slowly, then the second statement is irrelevant, as you can get 2x4gb and still not affect the overclocking capabilities of the system.
So if the percentage is leaning price/performance is bigger on SB then yes. If not then no.
