Quick question.

I have an old i5 750 which is an LGA 1156 socket.
Can I use this in one of the new LGA 1155 socket boards with the upto date chipsets ie Z77 etc?

It seems a shame to bin what is still a reasonably good cpu. As if I can use it in a build with an 1155 socket mobo I will probably do that and get a newer i5 later on.

I really don't know how backwards compatable the newer boards are so advice is appreciated.

The i5 750 is still a very good cpu, i am running an i5 760 and have no plans at the mo to do what would be a pointless upgrade.

Try and pick up a board for it :)

Yeah, I'm happy with the chip which was why I was asking.
I think you can OC these too but will have to check on that.

Any recommendations on a good board?

I might put it into an ITX build if I can source a good board.
