Hi Guys
My brother who lives in teh states has asked me to look into the above for him.
The projector and screen I can pretty much handle, the audio part is where I am stumped.

I recommended the Dragon soundbar, full kit at just under $4000 plus surround speaker mounts.
The biggest issue with that is he wants the 120inch screen, his house cannot accomodate a ceiling mounted projector, hence the laser one, which really puts the soundbar out of contention because of the placement of both of them.

So seperate amp with a speaker setup as close to the dragon as possible, the stipulation isthat any rear/side speakers would have to be wireless. He hates cables and also has a marble tiled floor so running the speaker cables would be a major issue.

Any advice given is greatly appreciated.

I quite like this projector.

Would leave loads to buy the audio.

Thanks

Seperates will be better than the dragon soundbar. Don't use wireless speakers too limiting on choice.

How about monoprice THX all round with matching 12" sub?

Need room treatment marble floor with nice audio system, waste of money. Needs rugs etc

The new Sony receivers let you use their wireless rears and subs alongside them. However, if he's dropping $$$ on the front speakers they will probably be very underwhelming in comparison as you have to use the sa-rs5 rears, although if done right with the spatial mapping technology it uses, I've heard it can be very good!

Bring locked into a avr / speaker Evo system?

Thanks for the link..
Any reason why not to use the dragon soundbar?

I understand getting seperates is the optimal choice, apart from that is there an issue I haven't read about?

Unfrotunatelt it needs to be wireless surrounds, do you have a thought on those, and amp?

Many Thanks

Soundbars are a compromise. Any half decent AVR and 5.1 speakers will outclass a soundbar.

I have no interest in wireless speakers as they are a compromise and means a locked in eco system. If I recommend a AVR it probably won't have support for wireless speakers and sub

Have a watch at least MarkeR

Thanks for that, it's def something to think about. I am pretty sure he won't care about having different speakers for rears etc.

Can we recommend the rest of the setup please, front/centre etc..
Thank you guys for the help..

He needs to go and listen to a few brands. What I may like he might not. And there's design, colour, speaker type etc.

Certain Denon AV receivers have a multiroom feature called Heos. It's wireless using the house Wi-Fi rather than Bluetooth as with most soundbar wireless speakers. This means there's no audio compression, and so no issue with a drop in sound quality compared to wired.

This Heos feature can also be used in a single room to have wireless surround speakers as part of a surround system. Denon has wireless speakers for this task.
