hi guys, my sister is on the lookout for a laptop. I have an eee 1000H which is abit too small for her liking, she would prefer something just abit bigger. Apart from the very expensive sony vaio's which I know come in 13.3", are there other decent alternatives out there?

The laptop will be used for uni work, internet, not really for games. 12"-13" screen would be ideal, something with good build quality, and decent all round performance.

Budget is around £400-£500.

Thanks :)

If you can hold off a bit dell are doing a 12" netbook, it showed up on dell us site today and it's up for pre orders on tesco direct for £299.

Cheers.

It's either gonna be that or the Samsung NC10 for me.

I have big hands and can't cope with a 9" netbook. So 10-12 would be perfect - leaning towards 12" if the price stays the same on release.

A real life pic it you havent seen: http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/10/12-1-inch-dell-e-slim-laptop-spotted-in-the-wild/

Its still very light and very slim for a 12" so think it will be be the perfect upgrade from my aspire one. Just hope dell are quicker at getting it out in numbers compard to the mini 9.

I fully expect the price to stay the same as tesco had the mini 9 up for ages at ~£250 which turned out to be the going rate. Plus breaking the £300 mark on a netbook is a big barrier, and dell do like to aim for the masses.
