I'm looking at fibre contracts but they're all 18 months and want to avoid standard broadband as all providers are estimating 3mbps line- I dont think I could live with 300bkps actual download speeds!

I live in rented accommodation so would like to go for a 12 month contract. Does anyone know of any?

Edit- and no Virgin at our SO18 1BF address.

Last time I was renewing with Virgin I said I wanted a 12 month contract and they said that was fine but the 6 month half price deal would not apply. That being said, you can move house within contract and transfer services as long as the new place was in a Virgin area.

The John Lewis offer is okay, but only appears to be a 38Mbit connection.

With the current offers it'd actually be cheaper to take a 18 month contract with Plusnet and cancel after 12 months, than it would to take a 12 month contract with Zen. If you happen to stay longer than 12 months then the savings would just increase.

Edit: The offers have changed since I last looked so the break even point is now nearer to 14 months.

They've got a mix of 12/18 everywhere, but the paperwork we have states a total of 18 months with a 12 month minimum contract. Their site is mixed up too:

Sky Fibre Unlimited & Unlimited Pro: New 18 month minimum subscriptions for Sky Fibre Unlimited + Sky Talk & Line Rental.
New 12 month minimum subscriptions for Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro + Sky Talk & Line Rental. Availability subject to location and survey.
£50 standard set-up. Maximum home download speeds: Sky Fibre Unlimited ‐ up to 38Mb; Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro ‐ up to 76Mb. Speeds vary by location.

I got my sky fiber pro for 12 months. This was the main thing I made sure of!! I have the letter at home stating it's 12 months. But as nutcase says it might of changed now.
