Hello,

Am eyeing up a 12400f CPU - are we expecting prices to drop after the 13 series launch, or might it stay the same as I don't think there is an equivalent level 13 series processor coming out this week?

Reason I ask is looking to build in the next few weeks.

You may want to keep an eye on the actual specs for the new 13th gen cpus. Not all of them will actually be Raptorlake and iirc the 13400 chips will actually just be Alderlake cores.

What this means is do not bother with a 13400 cpus at all and just get a 12400f if that is around the amount you want to pay, it is a great cpu for the price. If you can wait then do so , they are not going to go up in price and may be decent deals on Z690/B660 and 12 series cpus once the 13th gen is released . See whats available on Black Friday if you can wait that long.

@thebandit - The 12600 (the non K version) only had 6 performance cores and 0 efficiency cores. It was in effect a 12400 but Intel with their special anti consumer trickery decided they could charge more for a higher number so decided to confuse the hell out of the consumers and call a 12400 a 12600.

Never trust what number Intel or Nvidia or AMD actually put on a product
