I am looking to mount a 120.3 Alphacool NeXXos Extreme Rev2 rad on the back / side of an Antec Sonata Solo case for a colleague...can anyone enlighten me on what would be the best way to do this?

Thanks :D

Use an old fan as a bracket, remove the innards and mount the fan on the centre 120mm gap on the rad then screw said fan bracket to the case. It wont be pretty but it should work, you may have problems with the psu passing hot air onto the rad though. I would use a 120.2 tbh.

Thanks, will give it a try!

Just to pick your brains...I'm just getting a list together for my own WC setup....I'm still wondering about the best tubing size to use...any recommendation?

The Swiftech Radbox is specifically designed to do this job. As Webbo states, you can just use an old fan casing, but the Swiftech comes with all the bits and screws to position the radiator and fans so you don't end up driving the screws into the radiator (very easily done).

I personally prefer 7/16 Masterkleer due to its looks and price. It also gives a very snug fit over 1/2" barbs so theres much less chance of a leak. 1/2" is the norm but some prefer 3/8", especially in smaller cases. 1/2, 7/16 or 3/8 will make no difference to the performance of your setup so just go with whatever suits your needs best.

When I built my PC, I bought both 1/2" and 3/8" to test out on 1/2" barbs. It worked out great, although i needed a cup of boiling water to soften the 3/8 tubing and fit it on the barb.

I thought the optimum was to have a consistent inner diameter throughout the whole system - 7/16ths gives you that with 1/2" barbs whereas you will create pressure points with 3/8ths on a 1/2" barb. Of course, much of these discussions is highly theoretical, and doesn't make a ha'penny worth of difference in the real world.

Agree with the 7/16" tubing i bought some last week and when i get a 8800gt i will redo my loop with it , my first impression of the tubing was that it can have a good bend in it without kinking and is very clear in colour ( i know that sounds stupid but not all clear tubing is very clear ) and as said you get a very good fit with 1/2" barbs and you could just use cable ties with it or pvc clips at most .

The Masterkleer starts off like that, but goes opaque very quickly I find. Tygon is much better, but more expensive. I've actually switched to black Tygon now as it allows you to run with just distilled, deionized, water for maximum efficiency.
