Ok guys, ive decided it's time to change my monitor, for gaming purposes.
Now ive had mixed answers from people, some tell me theres little difference over a 120hertz monitor and the monitor i am using, which currently is a 22inch full hd 1920 x 1080 viewsonic, which i must say is crystal clear. But some people have told me once i play on 120hertz ill never go back.

So guys can i get the truth here, ive been looking for a new possible replacement 120 hertz monitor, and http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BG-028-BQ this has caught my eye. Any other as good as this for around the same price range? or cheaper??

Look forward to some answers , thanks.

Edit.. Must add will it be ok running one of these monitor with my setup and cards??

If you are looking down the 120Hz route then the BenQ is one of the best.

(if you wish to go 3D also then you will need to pick up a glasses kit)

Sound, think i may go with that monitor then. Any others worth looking at? And as for 3d im not going down that route straight away. But if i got a monitor with the set needed id sure have a look.

The 3D is perfect on the BenQ XL2420T not encountered any issues at all and 120hz is brilliant for gaming. It's the perfect gaming monitor at the moment and i wouldn't even trade it for a 2560x1600 monitor unless i wasn't gaming as much or not playing much fps games(then again 120hz is good for any game that produces high fps but really shines in fast paced games/situations).

Yeah your setup is good for it.

I would recommend the Samsung's on offer at the moment having just got the double pack, absolutely fantastic monitors! The BenQ looks nice, but haven't experienced it myself :)

Thanks guys, im defo ordering from ocuk before next weekend then. Just looked at when i got the monitor i have now, and im amazed it was november 2008!, really didnt think i had it so long. So defo due an upgrade on that .

Just seen this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-168-SA , will is be as good as the ben q?

The BenQ has lower input lag, is 24" and has a better stand than the Samsung S23A700D... but the Samsung S23A700D smashes the BenQ out of the park in terms of image quality, color reproduction and pixel response (BenQ has significant ghosting compared).

TL: DR, both have advantages, but I'd never touch the BenQ unless it was priced significantly less.

I'm user of the samsung 700D. As nvc said, the stand is a bit 'meh' but everything else is great. It uses samsung's own 3d tech (not nvidia's) but it works in far more games (users on the forums create their own profiles)

It's £206 at the moment when you claim the VAT back of samsung

It doesn't work on far more games.
Nvidias is built into the drivers with new profiles constantly coming & has been around for years working now on virtually every game. The Samsung has great support but don't for a minute think it has more compatibility then 3D Vision does. I know what you are saying about user generated profiles but this happens on 3D Vision as well. There are many custom profiles for 3D Vision, just check Nvidias own forums.

Right guys now i cant decide haha. Not ordering till friday, gonna have to think about it.. But if the image quality is so much better on the samsung, that for me will probably be the reason i would get that. Other than these 2 monitors, is there any others that can compete , in the same price range. Under 300.

Thanks for the help, really not upto date with monitors

Edit.... If i buy the Benq b grade one, does it matter what 3d glasses set i get. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-002-NV&groupid=17&catid=510&subcat= or http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-003-NV.. The set with the monitor are the expensive ones, will it matter if i buy a b grade monitor and buy the cheaper set?

can a naked eye really tell the diff between 60 vs 120Hz? i never seen a 120hz before

Soon as you move the cursor you can see a huge difference or move something around on windows screen. :p

By the way the Samsung's image quality is better but not hugely better as some claim and also i think there's issues with using 3D Vision on the Samsung panels at least that's what i read from many sites perhaps PCM2 who reviewed both can shed some light on it.

I need to see a 120 in action, i've seen so many conflicting reports on the difference in performance i wouldn't feel confident buying one without actually watching it work although the deal available now on the samsumg one with the VAT back is very tempting

Exactly a deciding factor for me, I had 150 notes to spend and the S23A700D was the closest to that at £166 after the VAT back deal. I wanted the 120hz, which definitely feels smoother, but the 3D was a bonus as I already have the LG 42" passive TV for films.
Playing MW3 in 3D is really a bonus, it's a different game and needs some practice to get used to it again lol.
