Hi,

I'm looking to return back to the PC Gaming scene having moved over to the Mac a few years ago and consoles for gaming, however having such a gap in not building PCs I'm a little overwhelmed with all the options now.

Does anyone have any specs to recommend for my budget, a few friends have recommended the i7 over i5 along with a GTX 970.

Also I would need a new monitor but not sure if the 4K route is worthwhile yet.

I'm also keen for the PC to be fairly quiet and not resemble a lawn mower :D

Thanks in advance.

Aaron

Hi

If you are only gaming then an i5 and 8GB Ram is still fine. You can always upgrade to an i7 later on, and also add extra Ram if needed.

If you are doing other things such as Video Editing/Rendering or Streaming etc then an i7 has the advantage.

If you can go a bit over your budget then you can get an i5 and GTX 980 ti build. You don't need extra thermal paste as the cooler will come with it's own.
