£1200 for a set of tyres!

I'm guessing the X5 also has run flats, when I checked with my BMW dealer they wanted £242 a corner for the OE 19" Run flats on a 3 series, so i can believe that big chunky 4x4 tyres could be more, shopping around is always a good idea :)

On the down side, last time i used a cheapo tyre fitter they scratched a wheel (which they denied), and broke the locking nut on the GFs car (which they did replace after some arguing).

Have no idea if they are runflats or not, got the quote and asked if they had them in stock-job done. Not my money :D

They must be runflats at that price. If so you must be able to replace with a set of normal tyres for a fraction of the price.

Again, not my money. If it was i would have shopped around instead of going to the 1st people that had them in stock. Im avoiding his 911 run!

I just didnt realise how expensive, id figured maybe £500 servicing a year and then ancillaries. £1200 or even shopping around, £800 is a shock considering the mileage i do. Would still have one [if im honest] simply on the driving pleasure i get from it. i know its a old 5 series design but, still a great experiene.

No, but it does make your comment that X5's are hugely expensive to run because tyres are £1200 a tad irrelevent.

Tyres are not £1200 unless you go to Kwik Fit.

even £200 a corner is expensive considering the mileage i do a year [20,000-30,000] still works out at £1600 min a year. So quite what your post was aimed at im not sure.
