1200p to 1440p or 1600p. would I notice the step up?

As above really. Want to move away from 1200p 27in lcd and from reading about the forum, have been put off early adoption of 4k. Is the step up to say, 1600p going to be really noticeable and worth doing? Or should I stick with what I have until 4k becomes more practical?
 
I'm in the same boat mate.

I'm ready to spend up to £600 for a new monitor to replace 2x1080p that I've currently got.

Dunno whether to go for the 4K right now or go with one of the ultra wide options you suggested like 1440p or above.

decisions decisions. Have to order it today and time is running out!
 
The general concensus is to wait until 4k is more widely adopted and a bit cheaper. went for an AOC AOC q2770Pqu in the end. Having to RMA the first one due to backlight bleed, 2nd one arrived today so will hopefully be better. Good reviews :)
 
My samsung 1440.arrived today.

Really nice monitor but not enough for me. Its really not that much different to my 24" 1080p monitor at first glance. And its not big enough to run two windows side by side comfortably with the work I do.

Think I'm gonna have to go super wide. Maybe the 34" LG.
