120hz monitor question

Hey, i was wondering if this would work:

DVI-HDMI cable from BenQ XL2411T 120hz to ps3 playing black ops 2
would it enable 120hz to work on the ps3? and if not is there any other cable i can buy for a 120hz monitor to enable 120hz on a ps3
as i've heard that hdmi cables to not carry enough bandwidth for 120hz.

games need to be rendered at 120 fps to benefit from 120 HZ capable displays

might see 60hz at times. not all tv's output at 60hz you see so monitor may help in that regard.

ps3 games do not run at 120 fps.
