120HZ or IPS Situation

After being with an IPS, I can deal with 60hz. I can get used to lesser motion - I can't get used to terrible colours.

Yeah i guess ill go with the 3 IPS's. Now to try and find maybe some Korean 1080p monitors.
I might get a 120hz down the line and have it duplicate my middle monitor so that if I am playing competitively, I can revert to that.

I got the U2412M (in sig :P). Gaming looks amazing because of the colours and its not stupidly bright like the XL2420T. I do not notice any ghosting or lag at all.

Thank you for the response.
It actually ticks all my boxes and as I'm coming from a Dell I know how great the colours are.
I was just worried that plumping for a 60hz IPS I'd start experiencing bad performance for games. However it sounds like it will be fine for games (not comparing with 120hz/144hz screens) however will also give me bright and vibrant colours.
And it's on "This Week Only..." deals :)

...and actually this is one I was seriously looking at. In fact I had the item in the basket and was ready to click the buy button until I read one of the reviews here on the OcUK site - to quote:

NOT FOR GAMING.
People below saying there isn't ghosting; I have NO idea what monitor they're reviewing....
....the exception games i've played is skyrim but other games i.e. BF 3, nuclear dawn and sonic is the worse as you can imagine, gave me a headache after 10 minutes play....

So it was this review alone that stopped me hitting the buy button.

Ive bought many monitors that supposedly have ghosting and most of the time I was lucky enough to receive one that didnt have any or had a minute amount.
When was the review made?
Surely you can test it out and if its horrible you can return it?

I guess with the rather over-powered DSR I can see what it's like and return if need be - although I so feel for the retailers in this situation!
The way I look at it is I'm currently using a 5-6yr old Dell that has never looked bad at games - so surely something up to date is going to offer better performance rather than worse.

This review for me is spot on. It even says good pixel response and low input lag.

Mark I tried that and it left the screen with a strong blue hue. No matter what changes I made to the monitors RGB value and using an Xrite with DisplaycalGUI I couldn't get the white points right to get a neutral colour.

So what do you do to compensate and get the correct colours when turning on 3D?

Also when 3D is on brightness is auto set at 100. But the colorimeter detected light output at 60 when it should have a target of 120.

Thanks

For better color, change “Magic Angle” to “Group View” in the Samsung's menus. However, if you already did this, try the different settings and attempt to re-calibrate. Also, you can adjust colors via AMD Catalyst or nVidia Control Panel; if your monitor's picture adjustments are not letting you.

There will always be color compromises in the 3D mode, however, it's handy to have for motion blur elimination in games.
What contrast ratio are you getting in 3D mode on your Samsung?
What software picture settings, and hardware picture settings are you using?
