So I bought a S23A700D off here a few years ago, it is a lovely monitor, which sadly I rarely use the 3d function but would love to use the 120hz.

I have always run it at 60hz simply because i was lazy.

Now I have a triple monitor setup and have been playing with settings I have tried to use 120hz.

I can select 120hz as an option if I use a DVI-D Dual link cable but it gives me really blurry text.

The card is an XFX 5770 XXX edition, with 2x DVI DP HDMI. I have the S23A700D and it has only HDMI and DVI.

I think my HDMI cables are 1.3a so it will only do 60hz, but the DVI shows 120hz as maximum.

I have used 2 different cables both DVI-D Dual link. (full pins and 1 - pin)

I get no signal for a few seconds then it appears but it looks awful.

Anyone got a clue what I'm doing wrong? I'm trying to dig out an XFX manual for a 5770 to see if both ports are DVI-D (they have the full pins but that doesnt help)

I have that monitor. No blury text for me at 120hz using the DVI cable that came with my monitor with either my 7850, 7950 or my 290x...

What are your two other monitors and how are they each connected to the 5770?

Also, do you get blurry text on the S23A700D if you were to use it on its own with the 5770, and with it set to 120Hz 1920x1080?

I only have one other connected and it is at 60hz, but even when I use the samsung on its own it give the blurry text. I use DVI for both, is one DVI port single link and one dual? It looked like the spec was dual link dvi for both.

TBH I set it to 120hz and I didnt check the res, it might have down graded the res to something poor. I will check when I get in what it does, but I have used a few different cables.

Am I going to get 120hz if I used a DP>DL-DVI lead? I read that DP gives 120 (even though the DVI I use gives the option)
