Kinda interesting, are they doing it just because yields are good/better than expected (and they can capitalise on it with a lol-worthy RRP epeen special) or is it to combat 'Zen 3D'?

If the latter does that mean they're worried and want <something>, or expect it to be such a small uplift to be beaten by this 'minor' SKU.

Still 5.5GHz is pretty impressive, especially given I don't think many are hitting that whilst overclocking the 12900K? (without exotic cooling at least)

Nah it's clearly heavily binned. 12900ks does 5.5ghz single core and 5.2ghz all core

Isn't just one core at 5.5 though? Then test at 5.2, as mentioned, doesn't seem that crazy, there's plenty doing that already on 12900k.

Crap timing like 5800x3d. You get to buy an expensive sku for less than 6months. End of Jan would have been an ideal time to launch both spacing wise.
