I have a room of 14x14 with a viewing distance of 12ft from the sofa to where the tv would be, i was wondering which size tv would be the best for this length!

Thanks for your help!

I have 50" at 9-10ft

standard tv looks great and blurays look superb and the higher definition is very noticeable

A 50 would do although a 60 would be perfect.

I had a 42 at about 10-12ft away and upgraded to a 50 as it shrunk quickly over time.

At least a 50" or a projector... LOL

My 50" is only about 6-7' away from were i sit to watch and I think It looks a little small, mind you, i have had it 3 years :)

I'm in the same situation, the 42" Panny plasma looked huge when we first had it, now it actually seems small!

If you google image search 'viewing distance graph' you will get a good idea of the screen size you need to see the benefit of 1080p, 720p etc. from any given distance.
According to that graph you should have at least a 70 inch screen, or 95 inches to see the full benefit of 1080p
However for 720p (such as Sky HD), at 12ft the graph suggests a minimum of 46 inches, going up to about 62 inches for optimum viewing.

I have a 40 inch TV, and from my own experience it looks too small from any further than 7ft.
In my opinion, you should be looking at around 50-60 inches depending on what content you're going to be viewing (Blu-ray, Sky HD, games etc).

Only thing thats not stopped being a novelty after awhile so far for me is my projector - 100" @ ~13feet. Everything else has got "smaller" and less impressive over time.
