putting together a new i7 system over the next few weeks with a Rampage II and either a 950 or 975 at the heart of it (long story about why it'll be one of those instead of a 920...suffice to say, its not a monetary factor)
Anyway, would like to go ahead with 12GB due to the heavy Windows/Apps work I'll be involved with, but I am struggling to nail down exactly what memory sticks to go for.
Not really concerned about the limitations the 12GB will have on any potential overclocking as I wouldn't be pushing the CPU too hard.......far more concerned with having a rock solid system, especially after using the P5W DH Deluxe for the last few years.
Surely there must be a few lads out there using 12GB on Rampage boards, so I'd be interested to find out what memory they plumped for in the end and any problems they ran into.
Was thinking along the following :
OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel (OCZ3G1600LV6GK) £103.99 (£90.43)
OCZ Reaper 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C7 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel (OCZ3RPR1600LV6GK) £80.99(£70.43)
But was hearing great things about the Patriot Ram these days (never used it myself) so would be willing to entertain any suggestions anyone would have.
Would be willing to spend a "bit" of money on the memory but not an inflated amount on stuff which offer headroom I wouldn't really be using.
