Hi i Pulled this fan from a small peltier style dehumidifier.
it was making noise, i suspect dead bearing, so i thought id replace the fan. probably easier than trying to replace the bearing
however i noticed the red and black wires are opposite to most 2pin fans..
i cant find a fan with the red and black the same as this, any ideas?
thanks

Just push the pins out on the fan you want to use and swap them to match the fan you're replacing, all the position in the connector does is dictate which direction the fan spins

You could achieve the same result by leaving the connectors as they are and installing the fan upside down

The fan blades are designed to spin in a certain direction. Having it spin backwards and flipping it aren't the same thing.

Except they are

You can see in the photo that the blades are not symmetrical, they are profiled to spin in a certain direction. The motor will happily spin backwards but the blades wont be pushing air as efficiently.

It won't do any damage to the fan to spin it backward so you can try to swap the wires over on a new one and check if it spins the right way without breaking it.

Pretty sure you can Not change the rotation direction of a brushless DC motor by simply swapping the wires at the pin end

Yep, you might be right there. (Well, technically you're wrong because you've said "brushless DC motor" which would be reversible by changing polarity, but obviously you mean the fan :p)
I've got a spare 2wire fan here and I can see that there's more control circuitry inside it, it's not just a motor on the end of the wires so probably won't run in reverse by changing polarity.
