i'm looking for a good 13" laptop, i have a good desktop so i need something portable to take with me traverling etc.

i have been considering a macbook but i dont think i can handle the incompatablity issues, or having to dual boot everything. So T5*** and above processor and good looking are the main requirements!

thanks a lot!

dell was the obvious choice, i just was wondering if there was any other good manufacturers out there. what are samsung laptops like? i personally love samsung stuff so it would work out well!

What's so hard about holding down one key, powering on and selecting Windows or OSX?

The Macbook is a great machine that gives you the best of both worlds, It obviously runs OSX but can run Windows just as well as any other laptop, essentialy with the Macbook your getting a very sleek machine with capable of running 3 OS's (linux) legaly and without problems :)

The Macbook is an excellent choice imo.

my post was not meant to be offending macbook users, they are nice. I will put them into consideration. But i prosumed that as all my applications ( autocad etc ) are windows based they would perform better under vista/XP then osx dual booting XP. i dont own a mac, so i dont know for a fact it was just a prosumption on my behalf.

TBH I think if you're going to be dual booting most of the time then you are in effect going to pay an extra £200-300 premium just for a macbook style. Especially when you can get a much more powerful 13" laptop for cheaper that is going to weigh the same/less and be a similar size.:)

When I was looking for 13" laptops just before easter the only two real contenders were the Dell or a macbook, I ended up with a Dell for the reasons in the first paragraph, cheaper (by far) and far more powerful. The sony 13" laptops seem very good but they also have a price tag to match, even more expensive than the mac, same with HP's offering (if I remember rightly).

What's the budget?

Top cash would go to a Sony with switchable graphics or a Thinkpad X300
