yeah my current laptop does have a vga & hdmi connection. I suspect I would be able to do a dual screen setup on it. However I haven't actually tried it.
I'd really like 2 digital connections for long term dual screen setup - because I've got a gaming rig that uses 250W of power which I'd like to cut down to a more energy efficient level. A laptop uses something like 20W which is better.
Your system is unlikely to be drawing 250w while browsing here and your laptop won't be drawing 20w while gaming unless it's a craptastic ULV playing Minesweeper. There is a reason laptops usually come with 65-90w PSUs
