A collegue of mine at work has purchased one of the new mac book pro 13" and is wanting to replace the RAM and Hard drive.

Now the RAM isnt a problem its the hard drive spin speed thats of concern.

He's wanting to upgrade from the stock 5400rpm to a larger 7200rpm drive. He was advised by a person in the apple store that this "Could" Overheat, does any one have one of these and already upgraded?

Temperature difference is minimal as said. As is the power drain.

However, depending on the models the 7200 you put in may not be faster than the 5400 you take out. You need to do a little research before you buy.

Additionally, faster spinning drives can often produce more noise and in the worst case excessive vibration. This can be very annoying on laptops. The WD Blacks for example have been reported to exhibit both of these issues.
