I am thinking of getting one of the 13" Macbook pro 2.56Ghz and would it be good enough for aperture and cs3? I like it for portability and then i will use my 24" external Monitor for when I do Photography work.

Is this a good choice? Will be it be better and much faster than my current MBP 2.16 with 128mb gfx

The 9400 is slightly faster than what you've got so you're not really going to notice a difference. But you might with the faster CPU and the 13" will have the new LED screens as well.

Was going to say, if the older white one above works fine than there should be no problems with the new macbooks with the 9400m. I would test it myself but havent got either of those programs yet. :) :o

Excuse me? My 2Ghz Core2Due WhiteBook complete with 64MB Intel 950GMA runs both Photoshop CS3 and Aperture just fine.

Exactly graphics cards accelerate games and 3d programs like 3dmax and Maya. Photography programs like Photoshop rely more on raw processor power and anything can run Photoshop, just depends on how long you like to wait ;)

I would love to see it run Aperture fine without one hint of a stutter.

At the moment my 2.8 Unibody still doesn't run Aperture to my satisfaction. My previous 17" 2.33 didn't either.

I swear Aperture depends on graphics though aswell...

Actually it handles my photo library better than iPhoto. Aperture uses Core Image so can use GPU but will also use CPU if needs be.

And yes both Aperture and Photoshop suffer some performance issues but given the age of my MacBook and a whopping 64MB of VRAM what did you expect? :p

Runs like a dream on my brothers 15" Unibody MBP even with the 9400M turned on! I should imagine it would run quite nicely on the new low end 13" and 15" MBP as well...
