I was gonna purchase a 13" Macbook Pro online till I came to the upgrade section as I wanted to have a 7200rpm HD in it and there no option to add that like the 15" ones do.. What a bummer

It is interesting they don't have it as an option, you can upgrade to an SSD after all but not a 7200 drive. All I think of is they don't like the thermal specs in the smaller chassis but I can't imagine it being a major difference.

Then again, if I was going to go beyond the standard hard drive I'd just upgrade straight to an SSD these days...

Is this HD upgrade on the MBP user friendly then does it not void the warrenty?

I would love a SSD but for a big size it too high on price for me

I believe apple turn a blind eye basically.

Depends how you use it - for me 100Gb or so SSD is enough for everything I have to have actually on my laptop. A lacie little big disk gives me an additional TB of portable bus powered storage (and it's 2x 7200RPM drives in RAID0 internally so it's faster than built in drive would be anyway!)

No, memory and hard drive upgrades do not void your warranty. Going any further like replacing the battery does.
