Hello,

I am slowly coming to the realisation I probably need a new case.

I was looking at the Cooler Master 690 II lite and loading it up with some new fans.

It comes in just under £130, but for that price could I get a much better at stock cooling case?

HAF X?
600t ?

I really want a HAF X not for it's looks etc. but in a fluke it matches the dimensions next to my desk absolutely perfectly :D

It doesn't have to be £130 :D

How much difference is there between the HAF X and the Sniper? I mean apart from looks and 30mm on the front fan. I am more interested in airflow than looks.

The Silverstone Raven RV03 has excellent air cooling and is right in your price range. The case has excellent build quality, great access and features, and loads of room. The looks, however, are definitely love it or hate it! :)

I'm going to buck the trend here and say the CM-690, just add two more fans and your laughing.

I have a 140 front, a 140 and 120 top and 120 rear and my case stays nice 'n cool :D.

RV03. Techspot have a review up, and it receives an 'Outstanding' reward.

Depends whether you can get over the gold though.

Gold? God I can't stand that "colour" at all.

Rob J, I have a 480 SOC, that vents/sucks air to/from inside the case, so my air-flow needs to be quite high. I was looking at replacing the stock fans on the 690 and then adding more. To significantly load up the 690 I was getting over £100, to fully load it I was close to £130. Not sure if it was overkill or not, but that what got me thinking of a different case with better stock cooling. I would still be happy with the 690, but the one thing that's at the back of my mined is 140 and 120 mil fans are louder than 200+ mm fans.

To be honest I really don't know what to do.

I erring on the side of the HAF X, it's better looking than it's HAF brothers.

What sort of fan control does the HAF X come with? I don't see any sort of fan controller built into the case, so do those 200+ mm fans have speed switches or are they just set?

Right read a load of gubbins and decided on the HAF X.

Put it past the girlfriend and she said no. Fatherhood is meant to be a great time, but this damn baby is taking all my spending money! :D

There is no fan controller on the HAF-X. All fans are just set.

But the standard fans don't make much noise at all. But if you upgrade them I guess you can just fit one.

One of the best cases for keeping you graphics cards cooled also.

Good luck with the girlfriend, and getting her to allow the purchase. :D
