my mate is looking at upgrading his pc. at the moment hes got a psu, case and harddrive. he just needs motherboard, cpu and ram. ive not kept up to date with the chipset and was wondering can anyone tell me whats the best value for money option to go for, amd or intel and what motherboard and cpus i should be looking at.

the pc is going to be used for genral usage i.e internet, music, office.
