Hello everyone, im looking to be putting together a gaming pc. I have a sort of part list in my head but im looking for some feed back and want to know if it will all fit within the case i want it in.

Parts:
Case - 450D corsair
CPU - I7 4790K
GPU - 970 MSI X2 or 1 GTX 980 MSI
Ram - Kingston HyperX Savage Red 16GB (2x8GB)
Motherboard - MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Intel Z97
SSD - Samsung 250GB SSD 840 EVO
HHD - Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB
Cooler - H100i High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler
PSU - Corsair RM Series RM 750 '80+ Gold' 750W Power Supply
Operating System - Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit

I really looking for a red and black themed build so i would want cables that are sleeved red. Please get back to me about this, thanks.

For the cabling, extensions are much cheaper than full on cable kits.

For what (my opinion) is worth i'd go for a bigger hard drive, 2TB at least and maybe consider a second SSD at 64 or 120 GB maybe the Corsair LS which is cheap and you can put some games on that use fast load times.

Hope that helps!

Edit - maybe GS as its red if you want it on display

Ohh yeah i forgot to add that, i would build it myself. And i do not have a display that i would also have to buy. And yes its basically pure gaming.

Just my thoughts again - spend as much as possible on the display and then build the PC to match it. It's your primary interface and if you are gaming and not benchmarking, who cares about the difference between 120 and 200 fps if your monitor can only do 60 (hz).

Best of luck.

edit - btw 60hz monitors are fine as far as i am concerned. If you go higher you will appreciate it but if you've not seen it, you won't have a comparison and won't be dissappointed

Excellent choice of case sir :-)

edit - i know you were not looking for my opinion but the op's!

I would suggest the i5 instead and save a £100 and spend that on a couple of red Corsair GS ssd's for your BF4 and FC4 etc

edit 2 - like this

The GS's aren't great though (and i wouldn't sacrifice CPU power for it).

If you wanted a 'better' looking SSD (to drop on the bottom) i'd suggest a Samsung 850 EVO.

Whichever SSDs you choose, they are only £5 worth of sticky back plastic away from matching colour. Point noted i had not heard bad things about the GS so OP do your research!

I dont think thats his rig, i think he found that picture (please correct me if im wrong)..

The GPU is a GTX780ti (i think) matrix.

The Board looks like a X79 ASUS ROG Rampage IV Extreme

God knows why his GPU isin the second slot though, Madness.

The rest is,

H440
(what looks like) 32Gb of Vengeance RAM
2 x Corsair Force (180GB/240GB) SSD's. (possibly RAID0)
Corsair H100i.
Ect..

EDIT: Perhaps it is his, Iwas pretty close on some of them though.. :)

I really like the look of your build do you know how much it came to all together?

It is mine.

At the risk or soundiing like an idiot its in the first red pcie slot - whats the issue? Benchmarks and in game FPS are what they should be and i get better air flow. edit - compared to the lower red slot obv!

As for the op question, its been built up over time so i would guess this one is about 2.2k GBP. Some if it is almost a year old mind and you could obviously get a better spec for that money now.

Yeah, that is going to be a bit over your budget (and you don't need half of it), my spec (i feel) was pretty spot on.

Its not in the TOP PCI-E slot, see the one just under the left hand side RAM slots? Thats the Normal one to use.

Your way doesn't give you better airflow as the card is sitting between the two front fans (or if you have one, in the centre). As the airflow is front to back (upwards) you need the GPU in that line.

(if you didn't Fully understand that) Draw a diagonal line between the centre of you front fan(s) and the centre of your rear fan. That is the Path of least resistance, thats the line the air will TRY and take. Your GPU needs to be in that area to get the best cooling. Then there'll also be more space under the card to expel the heat easier. Give it a go.. :)

EDIT: Captial, Just noticed, have you got your H100i intaking air? Really it should be exhausting.

Hi,

You can use this for you're specs. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18371076

Firstly, i think the SSD's are a waste of money.

The PSU cable won't work with the PSU.

The GPU is more expensive than some better options.

You have no OS included, do you need one?

i'd get more fans - the stock ones can be noisy.

I got 5 sp120s (the 3 front intakes are the red led ones) and and af140 for the exhaust.

If you are anything like me and buy lots of games, the 1tb drive wont be enough. I went for the 4tb seagate and its half full, even with the 2 ssds for bf4 and fc4 etc.

Also, get 2x120mm fan dust filters to go atop your h100i if its going in the top. In fact even if it's not get filters for any fans going in the top.

No need for replacement fans. The ones supplied are very good. Noise wise, you just use the fan controller supplied on the back of the case (behind the motherboard tray) works the PWM.

Like i say, no need to split the SSD's when you can get a 256gb/250GB for MUCH cheaper.

4TB is excessive, 1tb or 2tb should be fine.

Yes got it and thanks for the info - was worried i had got the wrong slot for performance. I tried many setups for the h100i and of all, the intake/high pressure setup worked best by the admitedly tiny 2c, but hey, i did try them!

Just to note, the 780ti hangs around 75c in Benches like heaven and maybe goes to 80 after 4 hours getting pwned on bf4,

Appreciate the input - thanks
