hey guys just need some opinions on the following spec.

Was originally going to go for an nforce 780i with gtx 280 but i might try this instead:

PS: im lookin for the best mobo/ram/cpu combination for overclocking, would this be the best for the price?

Also if anyone knows where to buy a window for that lian li case plz let me know :D

it was ONLY a batch with 8800GTXs which werent working, works with every bloody other GPU :)

heres my 1.3k attempt

E0 stepping CPU and brillaint cooler crank it past 4GHz and be happy :)

the quietest PSU i have never heard, and MORE than enough power.

P5Q PRO is renoud for Ocing esp the P45s and Quadcores which are clocking better than X48s

maybe a bit OTT in some areas..... like £150 mobo and £150 case £50 cooler...you could get a hell of a lot SSD for that :) thats all i am saying

i heard the SSD's are buggy as hell atm tho?

and i thought the rampage formula was the best for overclocking no ?

thanx for the responses so far guys :)

I'm ordering this system.

So far only ordered the parts with an X. Rest of the stuff next week.

Why are you going for such an expensive cpu by the way? You can nicely overclock Q6600 and its only 150 with and guarantee from OCUK that it will oc to 3.2.

i bet u for such amount of money u can do much better spec nad there is no point of p5q as it is has pce-e1.1 decreases performance at least by 2 ~5 % of graphics card not future proof

I must say, I wasn't impressed with the spec for the cash, I spent less than half that for my machine, and it certainly isn't double the performance, imo.

Would a cheaper stop-gap machine not be a better option until Nehalem arrives?

I just spent £500 and got a 4850, 4gb ram, a dual core cpu and a decent motherboard. Your spec is not worth double this. You should only get an X2 if you are running a really high res.

im running a dell 2407 so 1900 x 1200, and i allways run with AA and AF.

Using the machine for both gaming and 3dsmax, photoshop, etc.

i stress out my pc big time :P

im basically sorted for everything apart from psu and mobo, just cant decide, so many different opinions :(

fair enough, then the x2 is probably a good bet. perhaps even 8gb of ram if you are a hardcore photoshop and 3dsmax user.

mobo - i have just got an asus p5q-e motherboard and it looks top notch, perhaps you might consider the asus p5q-deluxe.

cpu - cheapest quad core? the Q6600, then overclock it.
