£1300 budget, thoughts?

change the motherboard for a Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) version, many here say it's the best there is, i have a Asus P8Z77-V LX2 Intel Z77 so can;t say either way but the reviews and awards do agree with them tbh.

you can get cheaper and better memory as well

the psu is high, a lower one would be better

450/550 or the 650, any would do for single card use

i spend to long posting comments as none was here when i started :(

the card above is cheaper and better v cost v power etc and with more memory, so agree with snips

change all we both say and your build will be faster and cheaper

for dual card use, just added extra power, plenty for 2 of these cards, better budget use with better OC m/b etc

Much appreciated thanks lads.

The reason we've gone for a 850w PSU is that he will be looking to SLi/crossfire in the near future. I have a soft spot for Antec PSU's and they've never let me down.

I also suggested to him a 7970 or 7950 but he has his heart set on Nvidia. Do you not like the 680's performance?

A couple of you have suggested the Alpenfohn cooler but if I was to spend £60 on a cooler shouldn't I get a Corsair H series?

Will definitely look at changing the motherboard now as well by the way.

Thanks folks :D

680's performance is less or same in some ways than one posted above for a lot less

cooler is best there is out atm, apart from liquid etc which costs more and not needed if no OC

and most here say XFX is best there is for price and offered the most of any advice etc
