Spec me a system :P

OK. The case and drives I will leave to you, but a 250 G SSD and a large HDD look right. The motherboard and cooler I'll leave to others too.

Only thing I would say is save £90 by dropping down to an i5 and spend £80 more to go up to a 780 Ti. Also, save some money (£38) by getting a 550 W PSU from a top-quality manufacturer like Enermax or Seasonic.

YOUR BASKET
1 x msi geforce gtx 780ti gaming edition 3072mb gddr5 pci-express graphics card £499.99
1 x intel core i5-4690k 3.50ghz (devil's canyon) socket lga1150 processor - oem £179.99
1 x enermax triathlor 550w '80 plus bronze' power supply (etl550awt) £69.95
total : £759.53 (includes shipping : £8.00).

an entire system with a 780 Ti uses about 370 W fully loaded so don't stress about 550 W not being enough. Don't forget to remind your mate that an AMD system will be faster for the same money ;)

Edit: and comes in under-budget using stulid's spec

You have not changed the cooler, it is the same as your OP spec.

In fact all you have done is take what I've done and put the original cooler back in LOL.

H100/H105 > H100i, but as the H105 doesn't fit then that leaves the H110.

I know I did lol. Little cheaper ;)

Cheers for helping by the way :)

I have told him about an amd system. I don't really know much about amd components to make a spec. Would it be an fx pile driver with a 290/x or?

You could argue that the 780ti isn't worth the extra £110 over the 780.

Not really - it's about 20% faster for about 20% more money, so since the budget is large enough it's a pretty sweet spot to be in.

The budget is large so an Intel CPU is affordable and better all-round. As lee32uk recommends above, the R9 290 is pretty well the same speed as a 780 (non-Ti) for a chunk less cash.

So basically the 780 or r290 are kind of the same in terms of performance. The 780 being more money and then the 780ti being more money but better performance then both.
How much better is the 780ti? I have ask him what resolution he will be gaming at and he going to be on 1080p.
