hi there guys looking for some advice and replacement ram i should get.

i currently have QX6850 'Kentsfield' quad core 3ghz cpu and are running the
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA663) @ 4 4 4 12 - 800mhz

really looking to take advantage of the 1333fsb on the cpu and looking for some ram to run at that speed to any ideas ?

2 x 1g stick - budget dont really care

Isn't the ram spec for 1333mhz just your standard PC2-6400?

I dont think you need anything special, only if you want to go higher than 1333mhz would you need PC2-8500 or something.

You've got Crucial PC2 5300 Cas 3. There is no DDR2 platform likely to exist that will exceed the capabilities of your ram. My Aniv set ("handpicked" PC2 5300 Cas 3) runs DDR2-1200 at acceptable volts, that would be 1:1 to a buss of 600mhz, 2400Mhz Quad Pumped.

Ok, not all can hit that high, but i'd be supprised if you cant hit DDR2-1000 @ Cas 5, stock volts.

You need no other DDR2, an upgrade to anythign else is stupidly expensive for little/no perfomance boost...... Your next RAM upgrade will either be another 2x1GB set of the same to get 4GB, or a DDR3 set.

cellshock c4 1000Mhz stuff will hit 1200Mhz easy with that board with 5-5-5-15 timings,
The board works well with micron chips and as a bit more of a guarantee go for some 1066 stuff

But why spend extra £ when he obviously doesnt need the extra ram?

He hasnt even pushed his current set as far as they can go, which means he is likely happy with the OC he currently has.

Better invest the money in doubling up his ram ready for VISTA, or put it into saving up for some other part.
