Just bought a second hand Dell Optiplex 9010. Has 4 slots and uses Q77 chipset on an i5-3570 Ivy bridge.
Unfortunately it came with 1x4gb 1333mhz ram.
I have 2x2gb Corsair XMS3 1600mhz 1.65v from an old build which defaults to 1333mhz at 1.5v (I think).
I highly doubt the dell bios will let me use XMP settings, so how much of a performance hit would I get for using 1x4gb 1333mhz and 2x2gb 1333mhz ram? I'll be using it for work and a spare gaming PC.
Would you:
1. Keep the same (mix single and dual channel @1333mhz). (total 8gb)
2. Get another 4gb 1333/1600mhz ram for around £10 and run @ 1333mhz - (total: 12gb)
3. Discard all ram and get 1600mhz+ ram (total 8gb for £20)
