1366 X58 Xeon 5650

Just swapped this into my system in place of a 965.

Got her to 3.6 within 30 seconds of going in at stock voltage, what benchmarks do guys use so I can bench this against newer cpu's?

Currently running dual 280x on an Asus Rampage extreme 2.

At £70, I'm super chuffed with grabbing a hex core

Hmm, interesting. Whilst the clock speed does wonders for 3d mark, I've notice whilst stressing all cores 100% the multiplier stays at 20 giving me 3.8 instead of 4.2. This normal?!?

Ok, so sitting at 210x20 @ 4.2 1.35.

Not bad for a first sitting, looks like my ram is letting me down. Its triple channel 1600mhz and anything over that for now is crashing, so got it at 1250 odd

Finally off nights gents

I'm going to see if I can squeeze a bit more out of my 5650 today. Must say, these maximus boards are wonderful to overclock with.

Still at 4.3 with a 20x multiplier to stop the turbo kicking in and clocking all cores down. It feels so snappy, I'm seeing better crossfire usage too.

I'll run the benchies mentioned in the second post at 4.3 before I play about, gives us all chance to compare these chips to newer stuff.

How did you get 22X multiplayer?
X5650 doesn't have the same multiplayer with the i7 920? (20x and 21x for turbo) or I am missing something here.

I can get 22x multiplayer with my 5650, but when all cores are active it changes to a 20x multiplier.
Lucky I can get my cpu to 4.3 at decent voltage

No they wont be all loaded at 22x, ive set to 20x and raised the bclk. My board is quite happy going above 200.

I'm not sure at what point the multiplier downclocks to 20x, when running 22x. I notice it whilst running prime with cpuz open

I've just picked up a 5670 and am currently stress testing it. I thought it was stable at 4GHz (1.312v on desktop) after passing 8 hours in Real Bench, but it crashed an hour into the x264 stress test. It's currently at 1.328v on desktop and the stress testing is going. I thought they generally managed 4GHz at lower volts. Anyone have any ideas?

My settings are:
Multi: 20x
BCLK: 200
QPI: x36
Uncore: x16
XMP: Disabled
SPD: 8:0 (6x2GB @ 1200Mhz, I'll tweak this later when I find a stable OC)
vcore: 1.31v (1.328v under load, desktop)
LLC: level 2
QPI/VTT: 1.315v
IOH and ICH: 1.2v
CPU PLL: 1.880v
DRAM voltage: 1.64v

Current max core temp 67c, by this evening it'll most likely be 73c.

1.31 is quite low for me. I'm at 1.35 for 4ghz. Can push 4.4ghz but need 1.38.

I don't really give much though into higher volts, these chips are knocking on for 7 years old and end of life anyway. It's fair game to thrash them.
