£1400 - Apple alternative for photo/movie editing?

Hi

Looking for something at a max budget of £1400 which will be used for photo and movie editing. The Apple variants seem to have really weak components for the price being asked, so is there anything Windows-based that would better serve the task at the same price? My searches keep taking me towards gaming laptops which isn't helpful!

What software? The Dell Precision laptops are qualified for many NLE type applications - e.g. Media Composer - http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/...icles/en_US/compatibility/en422411&popup=true

Premiere mostly.

Zenbook pro generally gives you most bang for your buck in a portable form factor. Around £1300.

Not sure if there are specific requirements for video editing but it runs AutoCAD and revit decent enough.

I'm looking at getting the newly refreshed Dell XPS 15 once it's up for sale. I'll be using it largely for Premiere editing. The 1050 in it should do well for CUDA based rendering/exporting.

No real idea on price just yet, but the base model is announced to be $999

Might be worth keeping an eye out on their outlet site for such a machine. I have to say though its not updated with stock as much as it used to be.
