Got a budget of £1400 (maybe push to £1600) for a gaming build, will be my first build aswell. Will also be used to store media, would like to use SSD for OS and applications then HDD for media 2TB+. Ideally about 8GB of ram maybe more.

Have been looking at i7 3770k, ATI HD 7970 and asus a77 sabertooth. Im unsure on what case to get and on cooling. I would like to overclock it and have duel crossfire eventually but not at the moment.

Any advice on builds would be great thanks.

If its for gaming i would recomend changing the CPUfrom a i7 3770K to a i5 3570K. No games really take advantage of HT therefore the i7 is abit wasted in a gaming machine.

Do you require OS, monitor and keyboard/mouse.
Other than gaming, will you be doing anything that requires hyperthreading.

Got razer keyboard and mouse already. Dont need OS but need a monitor.

Erm i use visual studios but not that much so not much use for hyperthreading i guess.

I thought the hd 7970 performed better than the gtx 670/680?

This will give you a great system.

A few things though. While the monitor can do 3D it is not the best with Nivida cards as it does not use their 3D Vision system. I have one but use it at 2D 120Hz and apart form the screen being very reflective it is a great monitor. If you want a proper 3D monitor then it would be best to go with something like this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-051-BQ&groupid=17&catid=510&subcat=.

I have not included a case, as with the amount of money you are planning on spending it will be best if you pick a case that you like to look of. If you are unsure whether everything will fit inside then just post in here and someone will help you. Personally I think this case would go nicely though http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-043-CS&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=1489.

I'll look forward to some pics too, and some performance reports. The specs above are very similar to the build I have in my basket....
Every day I think about pressing 'buy', and every day I bottle it!!

Have fun with it :)
