£1400 build and storage questions

I have an itch... a painful itch... to upgrade.

Moving swiftly on, I'm planning on donating my 3 year old rig to my dad for money soon so I'm thinking about a new replacement. I've put a build idea below though to be honest the only component I'm actually set on is the case: Fractal R4 because I like it (though couldn't find on the website?). Beyond that... I have no idea. Any alternative components are welcomed. I quite fancy building a colour coded PC this time round, you know right before I put it under my desk and don't look at it again for ages.

The £1400 is for just the tower itself plus OS. It will be used for gaming but I'm also looking to use it for storage of a lot of media. My question is... what would my options be when it comes to setting up the harddrives? Could I just hook up the two harddrives I'm looking to buy, and add more in the future if and when I want to?

Hope this post makes sense and thank you in advance for any help.

Wow guys thank you for all the builds! I posted this last night and went to bed thinking it might get overlooked - boy was I wrong. Some of these look awesome, I'm currently in the process of looking at each of them and looking at component reviews to determine which I like best.

The thing with the storage was that I thought about maybe using two 2tb drives to back up the same stuff as I don't want to lose it - hate it when that happens. But I might not bother and just go for a single drive for now.

The rig will mainly be used for gaming (Rome 2 Total War is on my radar). Only at 1080p for the time being until I replace the monitor. I do a little video editing and stuff but that's only a fraction of the time spent.

Edit: My aim is to make the PC as silent as possible too.

Thank you guys :D

I'm keen on the idea of a colour coded build but don't mind if its red, blue or green :p I'm not so daft as to sacrifice performance but if I can build a high quality rig which also happens to look cool, then I'm happy!

Forgot to address an earlier point someone made - I might double up on graphic cards at a later date so will maybe need some power supply head room? Would a fully modular 750W PS be a waste of budget?

Thanks for that stulid.

Hoping to order parts in a couple of weeks when my finances are looking healthier, also happen to have a spare few days at the end of the month to build it and do some DIY :) just need to decide on what parts to go for!

Oh and a big thank you to everyone who offered advice!
