I've recently setup a new loop and have a question about the fans I'm using. I have 2 Akasa Viper quiet fans (the s flow yellow blade versions) and I'm wondering if I would see much of a difference if I swapped them out for the Noctua A14 pwm's. I can't really get the Akasa's past 700 rpm without them being annoying, so I can't see there being much airflow created at that speed. The SP120 I have on the 360 rad are running at 1000rpm and are still quieter than the Vipers.

Do you think I could run the Noctua's at a similar speed and still be quiet and would it make much difference at all?

To be honest everything is running okay and temps overall are pretty good (It still makes me smile that at idle my gpu is 1 degree cooler than the water temp - I'm sure it's just a issue with how temps are read but it's still cool). The water temp gets to around 35'c when I playing games.

I'm not opposed to spending the cash I just don't want it to be a waste of time.

Cheers.

Thanks for the advice guys. To be honest I'm not really chasing the last degree, it's more about noise. The Vipers are okay up to 750 rpm, but I'd like it all a bit quieter. At 500rpm everything is nice and quiet. So my thinking was that if the noctuas are as quiet at say 900rpm as the vipers are at 500rpm, I could get the cooling and noise level I'm after.

I guess the only way to find out is try it.
