I seem to remember getting a lower ping on 56k...

Does anyone know what could cause this? I've tried rebooting the router and it doesn't seem to fix it... :(

Somthing in your area could be up. See if is the same tomorrow and then give VM a call if it continues.

Just for comparison, we're on 20meg VM, but since I have gone over the download limit, they've capped me :( That really is some bad ping you have there!

I think you may be right, that said now it's gone past midnight it seems to have fixed itself, very strange:

At least webpages load in a reasonable time now.

Thanks.

It looks like you have exceeded the maximum download limit or something so they've capped you. They turn traffic throttling off after midnight which explains the sudden change in bandwidth.

Traffic throttling.. Yeah.. lol..

Did no-one notice he changed servers between tests?

Even the most draconian traffic throttling would not have such a dramatic effect on latency so the only obvious reasons are A, Specific test server issues and/or B, a problem with your LAN.

No he didn't change server, Speedtest always chooses the server with the lowest ping, so if it was a server problem it would have chosen the second one first, and I guess LAN just decides it doesn't want to work properly until 12am?
