OK so im still monitor hunting. The Mrs has said i can have one as my xmas present :D

I was torn between 4k and 1440 but currently only on a single 980 i really dont think 4k is close yet. So i think the features i do want is 1440 res, 144hz and gsync. Not importantly my budget is £500 so this limits my options however what do people think of this ?

or https://www.overclockers.co.uk/dell...reen-led-monitor-midnight-grey-mo-084-de.html

the dell i can get on a deal through work ;) so its within budget. However if i go for the Dell there is no RMA etc available for me lol (unless it went wrong)

Also how will i find the pixel density ? Going from 24" 1080p i was kinda hoping for more pixels per inch but im guessing its not going to be much of an improvement ?

IIRC 2560x1440 @ 27inch should still be higher PPI. You will definitely notice a difference IMO.

Between those two monitors I would get the ROG. Especially since you mentioned the RMA. The ROG is a fair more widespread monitor, so any troubleshooting will be much easier for you to find.

I would grab that one.

There isn't a massive difference between these two, as the panel is thought to be identical, but these differences may sway you one way or the other. The Swift has 3D Vision support, the Dell does not. Based on early user comments, the Dell would APPEAR to have a slightly less harsh AG coating than the Swift, which was always a major criticism from users. Perhaps more significantly though is that the Dell does not appear to suffer from pixel inversion, which the Swift does. Personally, based on Dell's rock solid CS, it would be my choice. It also looks better IMO. Asus can be a real pig to deal with by most accounts, so just because the monitor is more widespread will not necessarily make any issues easier to deal with. I'd also suggest that the Dell will become a VERY popular monitor in time anyway... minus the 3D Vision aspect, it has the Asus just beat in all areas I'd say. TFT Central will be posting a review of it soon if you want to wait for that before making a decision. They are always very thorough.

As for the pixel density, you will be fine. I went from a 24" 1080p to 27" 1440p and it's the best thing I ever did.

This is just my humble view. But I've been waiting for a solid 1440p gsync screen for ages. I held off getting the ASUS ROG due to the shocking ASUS customer support.

I have had numerous DELL screens over the last 10+ years, I've also used numerous different ones of there professional range. There CS is second to none.

Just for the terrible CS ASUS provide id give my money to DELL. Companies who offer great customer support should be rewarded with our money.

I'm going to be ordering 2 of the DELLS myself for xmas.

Interesting, Im kinda leaning towards the Dell. I must say the CS of Dell is awesome and that does make a difference for sure. I would ideally like to see the screen before committing to it but i guess it will be epic compared to what i have so probably wont care too much about some of the small downsides. 3D does not interest me at all

I'm also picking up the Dell, although I'm doing my best to wait for Black Friday / Cyber Monday! I feel it looks better than the ROG (course that's subjective) but mainly I have more faith in Dell's QC and CS than that of Asus. Also the HDMI input is handy for me as I like to connect my laptop on occasion which isn't possible on the Swift.

If you have a look on YouTube there is a great unboxing / review on there - it's what swayed me to get the monitor.

Yeah I'm aslo stuck between the rog swift and that Dell! That dell does look lovely! I couldn't find much on YT yet though. So waiting dor TFT to do a review.

All things being equal I would lean towards Dell. I still own a u2312hm to this day and it's a great product. Zero input lag for an IPS of it's time was pretty special.

Are they saying 1 bright dead pixel and they replace the monitor?

Not for this one sadly; I believe that is exclusive to the Ultrasharp and Professional models. With all other monitors I think the monitor has to have 6 bright / dark pixels.

What Dell do offer, though, is a 3-year service that guarantees a replacement monitor is sent the working day after you call them. They're also a good company to talk to and, from my limitied experience, are pretty trust-worthy.

I'd also guess their QC is superior to Asus and Acer, although of course it's a case of wait and see on that front!
