I am looking to upgrade my old
LG 34UM95-P 34" superwide curved (3440x1440) 60hz monitor to one of the same resolution but 144hz.
Being 5 years now since I built my last system and bought the monitor I currently have, I am quite a bit out of the loop and would really appreciate and guidance/recommendations you may have.
Thanks in advance.

What kind of price range you looking at? Also do you need Freesynce, G sync or both from the monitor?
I'll be using a gtx 1080ti for the new monitor so gsync (if that's correct). Could possibly squeeze up to a grand but would obviously like a deal or save some back for other upgrades if possible.

Don't worry about getting 144 Hz specifically unless you're an elite gamer. Anything 100 Hz or over is good.
Wouldn't say I was an elite gamer by any standards but I do like to mix between pvp/pve on the fps games I play so 144hz would be ideal (so I have been led to believe).

LG 34GK950G or the F version are both great for your needs :)

The F would give you the option between using either AMD or nVidia cards though as Freesync works on both  (and is proper 144hz)

Thanks for this- I had actually looked at the G version but didnt know the F version was available and with a higher refresh. That's very appealing

Would you consider the F version a decent upgrade over the X34a? Have you owned both?

Have owned both and would say that although the LG is considered an upgrade (144hz is nice!) it's probably not worth the gains that you'd get. The X34A is pretty damn good.

Unsure where to go from a good 34" UW atm, if the 38 was 1100/1200 then it'd be a decent upgrade path but it's too expensive imo. The Freesync version coming at some point should be one to watch though :)
