Looking to see about 4k vs 1440p, which previously has been a slam dunk for me because my system could handle 144hz of 1440p but for a 4k setup would only manage 60 frames, so im basically trading 4k vs high refresh and I do like the smoothness of a high refresh

Now however, my current system can seemingly drive 100+ frames at 4k with FSR helping solve things by doing some upscaling, and the choice is now between 4k 120-150hz monitors or sticking with a 1440p I have at 144hz... it doesnt seem as much of a slam dunk as before and depending on the reviews I see, some people show good results and some people say its not worth it,

I could effectively get 100 frames now in 4k and the tradeoff in having a 4k monitor could be giving me the best of both worlds

My wife has a 60hz 4k I bought her, it's very pretty and I like the detail (am jealous sometimes) but I am still under the belief I wouldnt want to trade high refresh for it,

But....monitors are always a "see it to believe it" thing and I am genuinely stuck knowing if its going to be worth it. And whilst I'd pay a good £600 for a new monitor, if I don't get the results from it then I'm basically better off getting a 60hz one and giving up on high refresh rate

Games I play that would benefit are non competitive single player games, so im purely looking for my own eye, as to if I like how smooth or how detailed the environment moves around me. I've always had the choice of going 4k 60hz but now I potentially have the chance to go up in refresh rate

So firstly, am I wrong that this build could get me good refresh rates above 60?
And is it worth it to try and get both 4k and high refresh rate or should I still be stuck making the same tradeoff?

And so far, iiyama red Eagle gb2870UHSU 150hz 28in, acer nitro XV322QK 144hz 32in, AOC u28G2XU 28in 144hz and iiyama Red Eagle 43in 144hz are all in contention

Which of these could be best?
Are there any better in the 500-600 quid range?
