Hi, I am looking for a 1440p monitor. I cannot decide which one to buy, it's between-

XB271HU
pg279q
or the older asus rog TN panel.

I want to try IPS as i'm told it looks amazing, but the 4ms response time and ghosting is apparently bad on these IPS panels

What's everyones experience with the 144hz TN panel? Does it look good?

I have a 980TI at the moment so maybe I could save some money and get the 144hz older model.

Any advice would be great!

I searched for over a year to get a 1440p monitor with Gsync and I settled on the TN panel Dell S2716DG monitor and believe me it is dam awesome. I came from a TN panel though so can't compare with an IPS panel. But it is everything I want/need.

I had the ROG Swift TN and it's a great monitor, surprised me how well the colours where on it.

Only changed as I've now gone to the x34.

Thanks for the help. Anyone with the IPS monitors that can help? I'm stuck on saving £100 for a 144hz TN or spending extra for a 165hz IPS!

I am currently using the PG279Q and I am pretty happy with it.

I cannot go back to TN panels having used IPS exclusively for the past 10 years or so. I bought the original ROG Swift with the TN when it was first launched and I sent it back the next day, because the colours and colour shifts were poor compared to my Dell at the time.

Mine has minor IPS glow in the corners but that's limitation of IPS panels and I don't notice it enough for it to bug me.

I was torn between the Acer XB271HU and Asus PG279Q

I went with the Acer in the end purely going by how many PG279Q were being sent back according to the internet.

I was coming from an old iiyama E2773HDS (TN) and I could tell the difference instantly.

IPS are so pretty if that sways ya :p

I always the best I can afford when it comes to something I'm going to use everyday

4ms and ghosting is bad on IPS ? not wure what youve been smoking or what people that have told you have been smoking but they need to put that pipe down.

I went from a LG 29" ultra wide IPS to a 27" TN G-Sync panel , and I dont feel I'm missing out :)...I should say though that the IPS was only 60Hz ..where as the TN is 144Hz .

I've been on VA/IPS for over ten years and there's no way I could ever go back. As soon as I look at a TN panel now I can see the colour shift and it bothers me.

I use IPS and couldn't use anything else now, it's colour shift that bothers me, just watch for the grey to grey response times sub 5ms should be good enough

I always had TN in the past but the last 3 years I've been on IPS and no way could I go back, colour shifting would bother me more than supposed ghosting I've never witnessed!

I have a Dell u2715h IPS and a Dell S2716DG TN.

Yes the IPS is brighter, colors pop out more with clarity. But in terms of with Dell, the TN is not far off. Obviously with a TN you have the viewing factor, which to be honest with a pc monitor, you are always going to be facing it. even if you have multiple monitors such as myself. I use the TN as my main so its right in front with a good viewing angle. TN I find has a slight warmer tone to it, I actually like it, bit easier on the eye at night (I noticed how I like easy on the eye at night with apps that dimm the screen at night for sleep). But this is very minor.

For graphics / photography / editing it has to be a IPS. But a 1440p TN 144HZ you cant go wrong for everyday web browsing, video viewing and obviously gaming is a huge advantage. 144hz is amazing.

I had the IPS first and read much of controversy on getting a TN panel, and honestly its not far off much difference. Again I have stuck with dell with both panels and both are very impressive.
