1440p monitor recommendations

Hi,

Looking for a good 27” 1440p monitor. Must be G-Sync compatible. I have randomly added these in my basket but will happily look at others.

Gigabyte M27Q is a good option but can have a bit of backlight bleed. Nice feature is the built in KVM which I use quite a bit more than I was expecting to, I've got my work Dell Precision laptop hooked up to it with the USB-C port on the monitor with a USB Gaming headset, keyboard, mouse and 3D Connexion space mouse all hooked into one of the KVM USB ports on a cheap USB hub and a 1080p webcam on the other port. Using it this way allow full control of the monitor from the desktop using the OSD Sidekick app. 170 Hz Freesync premium should be G-Sync compatible, but not sure if G-Sync can use the full 170Hz range you get with Freesync, I don't have an Nvidia card to try it out with but I've seen reviews that say it is compatible with G-Sync. I had the Dell S2721DGF on back order at the time and ended up cancelling it and switching to the Gigabyte monitor from Overclockers who were reasonably well priced for it at the time, price has increased by £30 now but then what hasn't gone up, seems to be in line with or cheaper than other suppliers.
 
Can highly recommend the LG. I bought one for my son and its a lovely display, fits his needs perfectly.
I have just bought the Asus PG329Q, still getting use to it though but up to now no backlight bleed but I need to play around with the settings as the colours are too vibrant for me at the moment.

I have been. The trouble is, to get a panel with the same outstanding pixel response times as the 27GL850/GN850/DGF, in a 21:9 monitor, you are looking at £1000+.

There are cheaper 21:9, but they have nowhere near as fast pixel response times, so you get smearing or blurring.

It's a shame. A fast 21:9 at say a £600 price point would be amazing. But it doesn't yet exist. You have either <£400 models with mediocre specs, or £1000 models with great specs.

Currently the 16:9 models are hitting that sweet spot of ~£400 pricing with great specs.

I see OP have added an MSI 165Hz VA panel to his/her initial lot - the G34WQC is a 144Hz 21:9 VA Panel as well. It does have smearing, as does any VA panel, but is not close to the horror of VA of old and is the same price as the MSI VA Panel you already added to the shortlist. I have it, it does not like low frame rates, the smearing is much more apparent below 60fps but once you get the frame rate up it is less noticeable. It compares well to a 100Hz IPS panel I have as my secondary in terms of pixel response times and blows it away in terms of blacks and immersive experience.

You should be able to find the Acer Nitro XV340CKP for circa 500.
 
Sorry to hijack the thread but I think I'm the same boat as the OP... currently on a 24" Benq XL24IIT but I need a change and want a move on from 1080p gaming :D

Sorry, thanks for the recommendation but I forgot to mention - I only want to go as big as 27" ;)
 
The msi is ok, but has some major bleed from the curve. I cannot believe the price has gone up from last year, I am sure I picked mine up for around £250

34" 21:9 have the same vertical height as a 27" 16:9 here is my setup which has as 34" 21:9 next to a 27" 16:9 for comparison (I teach so I'm set up for online lessons at the moment with some help from OBS)
