So I was playing some Gears Of War today on my old 360 and though to myself "This would look awesome in 1440P".

I know the current "Next Gen" consoles struggle with 1080P and sometimes 900P, Will we see the new next gen with 1440P capability or at least all games running at 1080P 60FPS or will they simply phase them out ?

The current consoles aren't "next-gen" they are current gen. There isn't a "new next gen" it's just next gen. Once something is released, it is no longer "next gen".

They won't go for "1440P" at all as the only things that support it are typically computer monitors.

Graphics card/chip manufacturers are going to have to step up big time for UHD (3840x2160) to become a standard on PC, and in doing such the next generation of consoles will output UHD. Whether they render at that though is another matter.

Well you know what I meant :p

One reason I've held off getting current consoles and stuck to 360 and PC, 900P and 30fps in various games shouldn't be happening, I do hope they step it up for the next line coming out :)

Yeah, come back and create a thread about it in 4 years time, as you won't be getting a next gen console before that. But by the sounds of it you will likely purchase a new current gen console way before then though. Lol

For me I'm not too fused. I'm happy with how my PS4 and Wii U is. If I want pure graphical brilliance I stick to the PC. Consoles are all about the games and game play for me, though really some PS4 games do look really quite good.

I'm tempted to get the XB1 because a lot of my friends have it and I prefer the exclusives i.e Halo, Crackdown but it needs to slim down a bit first, When put next to a PS4 it's just too chunky for my tastes and looks like an old VHS player or the first DVD players :p

A bit like this XB1 Slim concept art that's floating around, If something along these lines comes out I'll snap 1 up in a heartbeat -

How long were the ps3/xbox 360 out before they got the first slim versions?

No, i am being serious. I think it looks awesome. Lot better looking than the oddly shaped PS4.

No trolling here either.

who knows....maybe Sega will get into shape and realise they were complete dicks and re-enter the console market ;) or even a joint venture with Nintendo ( you heard it first hear folks lol ) :D
