1440p over VGA?

Now, I haven't used VGA in a long time, so I don't know what bandwidth it supports, but would you be able to run a 1440p display off of a laptop vga port for desktop work and some photo editing? If you can, would it be rubbish? I think the lappy may have hdmi, but I'm not sure (it wouldn't be for me). Even HDMI doesn't support 1440p at 60hz does it?

Newer HDMI Does i believe. VGA (DSUB) is technically limitless, just the more you push through the more chance you get of snow (Small white dots where signal is lost). Its analog, so in theory unlimited, just quality degrades over distance and cable quality. I bet you could push 4K through one of those cables over 5-10CM and would only lose 1/20 of the pixels, which is a lot I know, but still impressive for ancient tech.

Hmm, interesting. It'd only be a very short cable run of a couple feet so that might work.

I used to run a 22" iiyama monitor about 8 years ago that could manage 2048x1536 at 75hz or something never noticed any artifacting back then really as long as I kept the vga cable away from power cables

Oh yeah, interference is a big factor too, things like Cordless Phones can play heck with them!

Old CRT monitors used to run massive res over VGA with no issues IIRC.
