1440p screen for office applications

I'm looking for some advice on the choice of a new monitor for work (well, and the odd bit of gaming too!

). I'm currently using a 24" 1080p monitor but want a bit more desktop real estate to play with and so looking to upgrade to 1440p. However, I'm not getting any younger and have a concern that at 27" I might struggle with the text size at 1440p. I'm currently thinking that the best solution would be one of the following:

...on the basis that (as I understand it) they would be broadly the same pixel-pitch as my 24" 1080p, they're VA panels which should be nice to work with, and whilst not the best gaming screen in the world will be okay (with nice deep blacks and no IPS glow).

Could anyone suggest which might be the best of the 3 to pick or point out any flaws in my rationale and suggest an alternative...?

I apologise in advance for bumping my own thread - however I do need to make a decision by the end of the week and would really value any feedback from owners/users/reviewers of the monitors above...

I have the Benq and its a beautiful screen with a quality feel, it would be perfect for office apps, colours and sharpness are fantastic. I use it for gaming and although its not got a great response time its still brilliant.

Thanks for that Grandmaster (I'm assuming that 'Grandmaster' is a better form of address than 'Fap!'

) My current monitor is an old NEC Multisync and so I'm hoping that gaming performance would be (at least) no worse and often better in games like Elite/SC where IPS glow is more noticable. It sounds from your reply that it's acceptable for gaming anyway...

The reviews I've been able to find online seem to favour either the Benq or the Phillips screens. As they both have the same VA panel will their performance be broadly the same? (apologies if this is a naive question). If not - are there any features on the Benq which won't be on the Phillips?

Asking loads of questions I know - just want to make the right decision. (By the way, this is nowhere near as bad as my current angst re: iPhone 7 purchase/non-purchase! :eek:

)

As they both use the same screen I'm sure performance is very close although I think I read somewhere that Benq use quite an agressive overdrive to get the response time low on its highest setting. I just play stuff on standard and hardly notice ghosting at all. I had an benq 1ms panel before this and it's on par with that if not better!

Also a nice feature is the ability to have the screen vertical, I don't use it but I'd asume someone using office apps or photos hop etc would find that useful

hi I have this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-...m-bezel-flicker-free-monitor-b-mo-032-ao.html have had it for just over a year its the same panel as the benq you linked its a very nice screen and actually does really well with games is great for tv/movies and text is very clear and not to small. I was impressed with the build quality too very heavy and the stand was solid

Thanks queeg - I had missed that one so will have a look to see what reviews I can find.

I must admit I'm coming round to the BenQ - certainly it seems to have had the most positive reviews on t'internet and on OCUK....
