1440p 'woes'

Even a 1080Ti can do 4k 60 with a mixture of high-ultra.

I prefer high refresh especially with K+M and my TV is just for controller based games.

A 2080Ti can do a constant 4k 60hz ultra on the vast majority of games. But then you have the cost etc. More than twice as fast as a 2060, even more so overclocked for info.

It's tempting tbh, as I have a nice 4k TV I could use for games I prefer on big screen and sat further away like AC and Forza. Would depend if my SF600 Platinum PSU is up for the job as I cba changing that too.

As others have said, your expectations are too high. My EVGA 2080 ti XC Ultra which is OC'd can't do most modern games at 144fps at 1440p. Your 2060 is more for 60fps at that res.

Take Anthem and Division 2 which I recently tried, both around 100fps, AC Odyssey still drops to the 60's in Athens or other larger cities. I'm running a 8700k @ 5Ghz.

My thoughts exactly. 1080ti or 2080 is much more suited to 1440p 144hz.
Try 1080p if you want 100+ fps mate

I gave my wife my old 1080 ti, she is running a 60hz 1440p res and it's perfect for that.

EDIT:

rtx-2060-fc5-1440p.png

As you can see, your card (well, the FE of the 2060) playing Farcry 5 at 1440p ultra averages around 75fps, source taken from: https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwrevie...-founders-edition-review-benchmark-vs-vega-56

I have the XC ultra 2080 ti, and the wife has the 1080 ti SC2, to give you more of an idea. So it may be worth getting the 1080 ti if you want more oomph.

Haha buy her a 144hz monitor. I bet the gpu usesge isnt even 50% :p

I gave her my old monitor, a 60hz 1440p IPS monitor and bought my self an Asus ROG PG297Q, which is a 144hz 1440p IPS. She's super jealous as this has gsync which is just amazing and wants the same monitor but knows the 1080ti wouldn't make use of the extra panel hz, so is content with the one she has :D Plus, she owes me now since I upgraded her stuff. I've been bomb dropping hints for WC'ing bits for a while, it'll sink in at some point :D

Only issue with 1080ti is I won't buy a second hand one so pretty much limits me to 2080. Mind you is the cost worth it over the 30fps or so I'll gain, probably not .

Have you checked that your FreeSync monitor supports Low Framerate Compensation (LFC)? This is important as for a good experience with a NVIDIA card you need to make sure your GPU is capable of staying within the variable refresh range of the monitor.

I agree with the previous statement that you are expecting a lot from a RTX2060, depending on whether it’s a binned (OC) model it may be possible that overclocking the card will give some more performance, getting closer to the RTX2070 in performance terms.

I don't actually want 144fps I was just confused with the whole freesync thing etc. As far as I'm concerned, I'm happy to be getting a smooth experience with mostly high settings and so far this has been the case on games I've played.
